PAWS/LA Fast Facts
Founded in 1989, PAWS/LA is a Los Angeles-based non-profit agency dedicated to preserving the healing benefits of animal companionship for low-income elderly, those debilitated by life-threatening illness, and veterans with PTSD.
To that end, the agency provides a comprehensive range of services, including veterinary care, pet food & supplies, and assistance for homebound clients, such as dog walking, pet food delivery and pet transport. PAWS/LA protects the human-animal bond.

Preserving the Human-Animal Bond
PAWS/LA is dedicated to preserving the loving bond between people and their companion animals. To that end, we provide services to assist low-income seniors, people disabled by a life-threatening illness, and veterans with PTSD keep and care for their pets.

Our Impact
-Through our pet food bank we distribute 40 tons of pet food annually.
- -We assist 1,800 animals in Los Angeles County
- -In 2015 we provided 1,127 veterinarian visits at no charge to our clients.
- -We helped 1,070 people keep and care for their companion animals.
- -PAWS/LA counts on 105 active volunteers across LA County.
- -Volunteers provide 16,375 service hours, which is equivalent to 8 full-time employees.
- -We are a network of neighbors helping neighbors.
