Design the Night Unites Top Designers for Spectacular Citywide Fundraiser

On Saturday September 26, leading interior designers from across Southern California opened their personal homes and studios for the first-ever Design the Night benefiting PAWS/LA.
Supporters of PAWS/LA were treated to an evening of dinner and design in five exclusive venues spanning from a stylish Downtown LA penthouse to a lavish Hancock Park mansion.
"Like PAWS/LA, the Interior Design community is dedicated to creating homes that foster happiness and transform lives,” said Designer Mark Cutler, who helped imagine the fundraiser and served as Honorary Chair of the evening. “As designers, there are few opportunities to help change the world—Design the Night did just that.”
The featured event of the evening was a dinner hosted by Interior Designer Chris Barrett and Hazy Mills. The dinner took place at the home of actor/producer Sean Hayes and his husband, Scott Icenogle, in Hancock Park.
Barrett and Hazy Mills brought the theme of the night, A Garden Party, to life and opened their wonderfully decorated home to more than 60 guests.
“We are thrilled to open our home to PAWS/LA,” said Hayes, who is known for his role as Jack on the hit NBC sitcom Will & Grace and for creating and executive producing many prime time shows, including Emmy winning Hollywood Game Night. “My husband Scott Icenogle and I love the work they do on behalf of HIV-positive community, disabled individuals and senior in Los Angeles.”
Joining Barrett and Hayes on hosting duties were David Dalton, Gary Gibson, Jeffrey Hitchcock, and Ron Woodson & Jaime Rummerfield.
Dalton opened his beautiful downtown penthouse for the event, bringing to life his chosen theme, “A Tour of Spain.” The designer served delicious Iberian food and hired a flamenco guitarist to create the Mediterranean atmosphere.
"I have a passion for all animals and believe they need us as advocates," said designer and host Dalton. “Hosting one of the evening's dinners in my home was a lot of fun. I was able to share my love for entertaining, and my passion for animals on the same stage.”
The Miracle Mile district also sprung to life thanks to Gary Gibson. He welcomed dinner guests into his personal design studio and atelier.
"Although I don't have a pet myself, it is such a great cause for those who do, and who wouldn't love the opportunity to enjoy some Mexican treats in Gibson's atelier," said Gibson.
In Los Feliz, Ron Woodson of design firm Woodson & Rummerfield made his private home available for “Dinner Under the Stars.” Every guest, including PAWS/LA’s founder Nadia Sutton, enjoyed the delightful camaraderie of the intimate dinner.
And, in West Los Angeles, designer Jeffrey Hitchcock transformed the marvelous Crescenda Farms into the perfect setting for “An Autumn Harvest Dinner.” The dinner was an ideal way to welcome the new season.
The event was such a success that PAWS/LA hopes Design the Night will become an annual tradition.
“It is an honor to be the beneficiary of the first-ever Design the Night,” says Pamela Magette, Executive Director of PAWS/LA. “What a privilege it is to be working with these amazing luminaries of the design community
